What is RVOL?

What is RVOL?

RVOL, relative volume, compares a stock's trading activity today against its own recent normal. A reading of 1.0x means today's volume matches the trailing average; above 1.0x means today is heavier than usual, and it is the standard first filter for whether something is actually happening in a name before looking at price action at all.

TickerStance's per-name RVOL board compares today's dollar volume, price times shares, not raw share count, against the trailing 30-session average dollar volume for that same name. Using dollar volume instead of share count keeps the comparison meaningful across a $5 stock and a $500 stock without the raw share counts needing any adjustment.

How tickerstance ranks RVOL

The /volume RVOL Leaders board ranks the full eligible universe by this ratio daily, and the same measure feeds the Pocket Pivot scanner as a secondary sort once a name clears the volume-pattern threshold.

As of the July 20, 2026 close, CLBK (Financials) topped the RVOL board at 27.24x its 30-day average dollar volume, trading at $24.50, up 4.61% on the day. A reading that extreme means the stock's dollar volume that session was more than 27 times its own recent norm, a level almost always tied to a specific news catalyst or institutional order rather than routine turnover.
