To qualify, a company must have at least six quarters of EPS and revenue history available and the most-recent filing must be no older than 200 days. That gate keeps the rankings grounded in current operating conditions rather than stale data.
Two growth factors are computed: recent year-over-year growth (latest quarter vs the same quarter last year) blended with a three-year trend score. Both factors are percentile-ranked universe-wide so a rank of 90 means the company grows faster than 90% of its peers, regardless of absolute size. The two factor percentiles are then combined into a single 1-99 fundamentals rank.
Operating margin is tracked as context — a company whose margins are expanding while growing revenue is a stronger story than one shrinking margins to buy growth — but margin level is not a direct rank input. Industries, sectors, and themes inherit their rank from the median of their members, so a strong cluster is one where most constituent companies score well, not just a few outliers.
The RS overlap metric shows what share of a cluster's eligible companies sit in the top relative-strength quintile (6M RS rank ≥ 80). When a fundamentally strong group also carries broad price leadership, it has both the earnings story and the institutional sponsorship — the combination that historically precedes sustained outperformance.
Every US common stock and ADR with sufficient SEC filing history gets a 1-99 fundamentals rank: EPS and revenue growth factors are computed from filed XBRL data, percentile-ranked across the universe, and blended. Ranks of 90+ are Leaders, 70-89 Strong, 30-69 Average, below 30 Laggards. Industries, sectors, and themes are then ranked by their members' median rank.

Sign-aware: a narrowed loss counts as improvement, a widened loss as deterioration, a swing to profit as a turnaround. Conventional percent math misreads losses (a loss shrinking from -$0.12 to -$0.07 is improvement, not "down 42%"), so the table says "loss narrowed 42%" instead of printing a misleading percentage.
The change in a group's median fundamentals rank versus 15 and 30 trading days ago — the classic "improving group" read. Positive means the group is gaining rank. Dashes mean the history window isn't available yet.
